The Greater Philly UU Cluster is dedicated to bringing together the 14 Cluster congregations in song. As Unitarian Universalists, we value the collective voices of the people that make up our communities.
In Fall 2017, Nate Bergey approached Amy Nothelfer (GPC Chair) with a vision of bringing together the choirs and singers from the 14 Cluster congregations. That idea led to the organizing of our first event: GPC Choral Workshop in April 2018. At the workshop, participants enjoyed singing together as a group, but they were also asked to discuss and share their ideas as well as complete a survey related to future music events. After processing the feedback, the GPC Music program was launched.
Role of music in bringing together UU congregations
- Easy way for new members to become involved in church life
- Facilitate collaborations among congregations
- Share our UU values
- Learn from other UU congregations (e.g. learn other models)
- Come together in a joyful way

UU Protest Choir
Join your voice in protest with area UU singers. Repertoire will be provided to interested participants and we will meet before a protest at the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia (2125 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia). We will rehearse as a group and then join the protest and contribute our music to the effort. Events will be published on the GPC Music Google Group. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to join the GPC Music Google Group and stay tuned for dates and protests.
